I live in the real world. I know that no one has extra time in the morning. We are all rushing around getting ourselves ready for work, and many of us are also getting kids ready for school or daycare.
We’ve been conditioned to believe that mostly everything on the grocery store shelves is relatively healthy. The grain based, sugar laden, high carb cereal says gluten free, natural, organic or non-GMO, so it’s healthy right?
Real food always wins over boxed, processed foods. Have you read an ingredient label lately? Do you even know what some of those ingredients are?
I hear you though. This sounds good and all, but it’s just not possible at your house.
This breakfast pictured above took all of about 8 minutes to make. You can boil pasture raised eggs the night before to have ready. I make batches of grain free, cassava flour biscuits weekly and freeze them to warm in the oven during the week with eggs. The fantastic biscuit recipe is coming soon.
Other ideas for breakfast are:
1. An organic apple with almond butter or sunflower seed butter (get those nut or seed butters without added sugar or extra additives)
2. Warm organic 🍎 applesauce (buy without added sugar, apple juice or other preservatives in a glass jar) with a spoonful of organic coconut oil sprinkled with organic Ceylon cinnamon. Add nuts on top if desired. This is a wonderful dessert as well!!
3. Larabars are one of the few processed bars we buy for my daughter. Most varieties are nuts and fruit only (some chocolate ones have sugar). We give her the sugar free ones in moderation (not daily), but a banana and Larabar could be another breakfast or snack idea if you are in a pinch.
4. Green smoothies are easy too. Throw any organic greens, clean milk alternative or full fat grass fed dairy, and low sugar organic berries or 1/2 a banana into a blender or Vitamix. Throw a spoonful of nut butter or sunflower seed butter in too. That takes no time. Take it in the car on your way.
Baby steps, right? Start with moving away from processed foods just one day a week. You’ll be glad you did.
Breakfast for my sweet girl today pictured above was as follows:
-Leftover organic Swiss chard sautéed in duck fat
-Three Vital Farms pasture raised scrambled eggs
The link recipe for the Swiss chard recipe is here.
Now go have a fantastic day!!!! 😀
